Nursing Mothers

For mothers who need a quiet place to nurse their infant, we have a place for you! The Nursing Mothers room is next to the infant room and is open for you to come and go as you need. We have also set up a changing station with some supplies to keep your baby (and you) nice and clean.

Infants (0-12 months)

Infants experience God’s love by being cradled and cared for in a safe and secure environment where they can relax and play while you worship.

We know that leaving your new baby for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our infant classrooms have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies and their training to care for all of the needs of your infant. We hope that the following information will help you and your baby have a great experience.

  • Please bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and any special blankets that will help soothe your baby.
  • Label all items that belong to your baby.
  • To ensure that your babies receive the best care, we adhere to a one volunteer to every two kids ratio in our infant and crawler classrooms.

Toddlers (1′s and 2′s)

In this fun age of wonder and awe, we intentionally seek to direct their focus to the God of wonders.

We have playtime, snacks, and our volunteers pray, teach, and play with your kids, showing them how to interact with each other in a safe and fun environment.

All activities are age-appropriate with plenty of flexibility for the normal needs of toddlers and two-year-olds. We believe in an active, hands-on approach with our kids, so be on the lookout for those fun projects!

  • To ensure that our classrooms are safe and to create the best possible learning environments, we adhere to a ratio of one volunteer for every four kids.
  • Every week we provide animal and/or Goldfish crackers for snack time.
  • If your kid has any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and bring appropriate snacks for them.
  • Be sure to bring extra diapers and a change of clothes.
  • Label all items, including cups, snacks, diapers, pacifiers, etc.
  • If your kid is potty training, please be sure to communicate that to the teacher. We ask that they wear pull-ups to the classrooms.
  • Volunteers are never allowed in the bathrooms alone with kids. There are always at least 2 helpers present when taking a trip to the bathrooms. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with hand washing afterwards.
  • Please do not bring extra toys, since it is hard to distinguish what belongs to whom.

Pre-School (3-5 years)

At this young age our kids learn that God loves them and sent His Son to die for us so that we can live. They are nurtured in a fun atmosphere where they are taught to worship the Creator through games, Bibles stories, memorizing scripture, singing, skits and crafts.

The first thing we do is grab your kids attention with a fun activity designed to get them prepared for the days Bible story. They will then hear a creative presentation of the Bible story and continue to worship through music, where they are encouraged to sing and dance. After, we help them better understand the key truth of the day through a hands-on experience.

  • In order to create the most ideal teaching environment, we place one volunteer in every classroom for every five kids.
  • If your kid is potty training, please communicate that to the teachers and bring an extra change of clothes.
  • Volunteers are never allowed in the bathrooms alone with kids. There are always at least 2 helpers present when taking a trip to the bathrooms. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with hand washing afterwards.
  • Often we provide snacks. Snack time usually includes animal and/or Goldfish crackers along with water to drink.
  • If your kid has any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the teachers and bring appropriate snacks for them.
  • Please do not bring toys from home, as it is very difficult to distinguish what belongs to whom.

Elementary (Grades k-5)

Kids are in a constant state of discovery. Think about all the different things they are trying for the first time and what they’re learning every day, even how to make (and keep) friends.

At EMMAUS Kids, we want to make sure these three things stick…

  1. I need to make the wise choice.
  2. I can trust God no matter what.
  3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

We do this by focusing on one virtue every month as we teach and discuss God’s word. We want kids to see how God’s word fits into their lives, to learn how talk to Him, and to build friendships that will last. If your kid is in K-5th grade, then this environment is designed just for them.

What To Expect

When you arrive to EMMAUS on a Sunday morning you will need to check your children into their classrooms. If you aren't sure where to go, ask any of our Welcome team. They know everything!

At the check-in stations, you can search for your children in our secure system and check them in. If you are a Guest you can register with our system for future check-in's or continue as a Guest. This will print out a name tag for your child with a unique bar code for you to scan after the service. If you lose your barcode, we can check your children out using a driver's license and the information we have on file for you.

Remember, when you're done, your reward is a pour-over coffee and a smiling face at our Coffee Bar!

Once they are checked into their classrooms each kid will be greeted by their classroom leader. Classroom leaders are serious about having fun and passionate about teaching the truth of the Bible through activity and stories. Through our classroom curriculum, we tell stories to engage kids to make the Bible come to life for them. We also take time each week for kids to sing (as loud as they want) and tell God how much they love Him.
