Holy Formed - NOVEMBER 22nd

Sleep, Dependence, & God Who Holds All things Together

Reflection Questions:

1. What is your nightly routine?

2. How do your nightly habits shape you?

3. What keeps you from sleep? What keeps you up at night?

4. What do your sleep patterns, struggles, or habits reveal about your lives, fears, commitments, and what you trust?

5. In your opinion, what is the link between daily sleep and the reality of death?

6. How are physical and spiritual rest related to each other?

7. Do you believe that God can sometimes work more in you as you sleep than when you are awake? Why or why not?

Suggested Practice:

1. Think through your nightly liturgy. Make sure it is teaching you good habits of rest. Go to bed on time and get enough sleep. Reflect on or journal about how a week of good rest affects you spiritually and physically.

2. Talk to a family member or friend about the things that keep you from rest. Pray about them.

3. If you do not practice a weekly day of rest, do so this week. Reflect on how it affects you and your view of time, limits, your body, and God.

Giving

Take a few minutes to practice generosity at Emmaus. You can give online. After giving, pray for generosity and provision at Emmaus in this season, and that God would bless our community.

Prayer

Be praying for our country and our world as we continue to face this pandemic. Pray also that God would reveal to you how you can be a cross-shaped identity to those around you.

If you have (or someone you know has) a need during this time, please reach out to us so we can pray and look at serving you.

Go be the hands and feet of Jesus.
